Oxford, MS– Jacob Bergeron, the #3 QB in the nation, was a highly sought after recruit this past season. Bergeron committed to Ole Miss earlier this month, but has recently made headlines for his achievements off the field. The Oxford Times announced earlier this week that Jacob entered the annual “Hotty Toddy Gosh Almighty Eat a Can of Dip” contest as an underdog, but walked away with the crown after an exhilarating match with the reigning champion, Bo Wallace.
Bergeron’s attorney wouldn’t let reporters speak with him directly, but sources close to Jacob told our reporters that after having his stomach pumped, he was “in great spirits and seriously stoked about the victory!”. Bergeron was discharged from the hospital earlier today and is expected to return to campus early next week to resume training. When our reporters spoke with coach Hugh Freeze about the incident, he claimed: “Jacob showed great perseverance both during the competition and afterwards in recovery. He’s a hell of a fighter and we look forward to having him as a part of our football program.”
While critics claim that a high school student shouldn’t have access to dip, let alone a competition, locals view things differently. Local fan, Billy Barton, told reporters “He’s a winner, that’s what winners do- they win.” He and a group of friends began shouting “Hotty Toddy” and “Make America great again” as they walked to class.
